Breast Revision Surgery

Breast revision surgery corrects problems from prior breast augmentation, replaces implants, or improves breast appearance after aging. Some women need revision surgery for medical reasons, like discomfort or implant rupture. Others simply want a change - to feel more in harmony with how they see themselves today. Whatever your reason, this surgery is about helping you feel like yourself again - confident, comfortable, and at ease in your body.

Revisions are sometimes needed because of complications from prior surgery, such as capsular contracture, implant displacement or asymmetry, implant wear or rupture, or an unsatisfactory cosmetic outcome or a desire for resizing or reshaping.

If your breasts have lost shape or firmness, your surgeon may also suggest a lift to restore a natural, youthful contour. Our surgeons develop a unique surgical plan for every patient, considering their individual anatomy, medical history, and desired outcomes.

Revision surgery is more complex than a first-time procedure and requires a careful, experienced approach, especially when working with tissue that has already been operated on. That is why we only work with surgeons who have deep experience in revision cases - and who understand how important it is to restore not just appearance, but trust in your body again.

The surgery is performed under general anesthesia and takes 1.5 to 3 hours, depending on the complexity. Recovery typically takes a little longer than after the first operation. You will see initial improvements within weeks, with the final results taking 3-6 months.

Revision surgery takes more than just technical skill - it calls for real care, listening, and understanding. At Reviva, we support you not only as our client, but as a woman with a personal story and a journey back to feeling confident in her body.

questions
Why might someone need revisionary mammoplasty?
Revisionary mammoplasty is performed for various reasons. In some cases, it is due to the patient’s personal dissatisfaction with the initial result. More often, it becomes necessary because of age-related changes that have caused the breast tissue — along with the implant — to sag. Repeat surgery is also commonly performed after pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding, or significant weight fluctuations. In rarer cases, revision mammoplasty is required to correct implant damage, deformation, or displacement.
What steps are involved in preparing for revisionary mammoplasty?
Preparation for revision mammoplasty follows the same steps as preparation for primary breast surgery. A preliminary consultation with the doctor is required, during which they will examine the breasts, assess the causes of the changes, and outline a treatment plan. This is followed by preoperative diagnostics, including blood tests, fluorography, an electrocardiogram, and an ultrasound (or other imaging) of the mammary glands. We recommend refraining from smoking and drinking alcohol for 2–3 weeks before the procedure. During consultations with the plastic surgeon and anaesthesiologist, be sure to mention any medications you take regularly.
